Te Whāriki Learning Progressions is a practical 34-page professional resource designed to help early childhood kaiako recognise and articulate how children’s capabilities may emerge, grow and strengthen over time across all 20 learning outcomes of Te Whāriki.
Rather than treating progression as a checklist or age-based sequence, this guide supports thoughtful professional noticing. It helps kaiako look beyond the activity a child is doing and consider what is changing in the child’s knowledge, skills, dispositions, working theories and participation over time.

This is an independent HeartLead NZ professional resource. It is not an official Ministry of Education resource, an assessment or diagnostic tool, or a framework for determining whether a child is “on track”.
Centre licence
This purchase grants one ECE service permission to use and share the resource internally with the kaiako employed by that service. It can be used in team meetings, professional learning, mentoring, curriculum discussions, planning and assessment conversations within that centre.
The licence does not extend to other centres or services, including other services within the same organisation. Multi-centre or organisation-wide use requires separate permission from HeartLead NZ.
